“Living in the Days of Great Expectancy” by Garry Lovette, Sr. Editor              I have been quite amazed at the changes that have taken place recently… Not only in our country, but in much of the rest of the world. Has anyone else noticed besides me that the Presidential Campaigns seem to start earlier and earlier each time. It’s no wonder that people lose interest around election season, they are simply worn out from all of the hoopla surrounding the election. We have made it a policy here at “Common Ground Christian News” never to endorse political candidates…and we don’t intend to start now. However, it would pay us all to look closely at all the candidates vowing for the title of “Leader of the Free World”. While the secular media has done everything in their power to demoralize this country and to make us look as bad as possible to the rest of the world, The United States of America is still a beacon of hope and liberty for the rest of the world. No matter what the secular media spews out about this country and where we are headed, take everything they say “with a grain of salt”. They may try to rewrite history and try to change what our forefathers intended for this great nation. They will not succeed. They can never change the fact that this country was founded upon Judeo-Christian values. That is the main ingredient that has kept us this long. It will be our staying force in years to come. I have paid close attention to many of the candidates this time, and two of them seem to leap out at me as I watch them and listen to them. The first is Kansas Senator Sam Brownback, and the second is former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee. These two men, especially Sam Brownback, have shown that they are not ashamed of their Faith in Christ, and that this will be the driving force in any future decisions that they make. (It is comforting to know that these kinds of candidates are running for the Presidency.) If you’ve ever thought about praying for this country and it’s future, now would be a good time. I intend to step up my prayer time with The Lord and to bring this country up before Him asking Him to once again show mercy to us in this dark hour. I believe what the Bible says that, “If my people who are called by my name, would humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways, then we will hear from heaven, and God will heal our land.” Lou Engle, who is heading up “The Call Nashville”, is challenging everyone to begin a 40-day fast on May 28th leading up to the great day of repentance in Nashville on July 7th. I intend to participate in that fast, and I most certainly plan to be in Nashville on 07.07.07. These are definitely days of great expectancy, and I believe that God is about to show up in this nation in a way that we have never comprehended. Pour out Your Holy Spirit on us Almighty God, and change us into the Warriors for Christ that you want us to be! CG
